Last tip: Don’t let your eco-friendly buying stop at your gifts! While you are at it, ditch your wrapping paper. According to the Clean Air Council, an additional 5 million tons of waste is generated during the holidays, 4 million tons of which is wrapping paper & shopping bags. To cut down on waste while shopping this season, remember to bring reusable shopping bags. When gifting, use an alternative wrapping – newspaper, magazines, old maps, calendar pages, or pieces of fabric. If you must buy wrapping paper, avoid buying the kind with glossy foil, because that type can’t be recycled.
