POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Solar Consultant will be an independent contractor based out of SunShare’s Denver office and will be principally responsible for nurturing community solar customer prospects to close while representing the professionalism and the focus on customer-experience that is a core value of SunShare. As a Solar Consultant, your responsibility will be to educate residents on the benefits of community solar thereby enabling consumers to make informed decisions about their energy usage, the environment, and how to better their lives. This position requires experience in direct B-to-C sales as well as excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. The candidate will be required to effectively master and articulate SunShare’s value proposition, diligently track activity using SunShare’s systems and processes, participate in some evening and weekend events, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the company’s messaging and sales operations. Candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced and unstructured environment and should be an independent thinker and problem-solver.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strategizes and preplans on how to best achieve sales objectives by understanding company pricing and product programming information
• Prepares and delivers professional sales presentations to customers by balancing the company’s priorities and customers’ needs
• Attains standards of performance goals by achieving the goals set by management
• Maintains professional relationships with all customers by participating in effective work with sales calls, sales blitzes and community events
• Remains informed of company activities and updates by attending and actively participating in weekly sales meetings
• Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential
• Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
• Strictly adheres to all regulatory and consumer protection compliance including delivering disclosures to prospects
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 2+ years in B2C Sales Role
• Experience working in telesales
• History of success
• Tenacity and a positive mental attitude
• Professional, friendly, curious, energetic, team player
• A drive and passion for spreading renewable energy to the masses
• Ability to hold a Solicitor’s Permit where required
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Senior Counsel will perform legal and commercial duties for the purpose of helping to analyze, structure, and close complex project and corporate financial transactions. They will review, draft, and manage complex commercial agreements and perform general corporate legal tasks. The Senior Counsel will remain knowledgeable on emerging Community Solar markets and their policy, regulatory, and tariff structures, and will recommend compliance strategies concerning business and new market development. The Senior Counsel will study utility program rules related to the developer selection process, interconnection process, and tariff structures. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer, and will be based out of the Denver office, subject to the current remote working environment. This role will require fulfilling work hours and occasional travel. Candidates must have the strong work ethic required to succeed in such an environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transaction Support

Assist on asset sale transactions, construction loan financing, and other financing relating to the Company’s development portfolio.

Specific duties to include:

  • Drafting and negotiating transaction documents
  • Overseeing and managing the company data room and legal documents
  • Assisting in third party diligence activities, including coordinating responses to questions and information requests
  • Assisting in project-level development on ad hocbasis
  • Facilitating any other tasks that are necessary to the closing of a transaction or financing

Legal Affairs

Advising the company about legal issues related to business operations.

Specific duties to include:

  • Providing management with effective legal advice on business issues, corporate finance and company strategies
  • Negotiating and representing the company in mediation, arbitration, and complex litigation matters
  • Selecting and overseeing the work of outside counsel
  • Drafting and editing complex commercial agreements
  • Ensuring the company operates in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, etc.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience handling M&A activities, structured and project finance transactions, preferably in the renewable energy, electric utility, or real estate industries
  • Experience with commercial real estate preferred 
  • Excellent analytical and research skills; highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Good organizational skills, ability to effectively prioritize tasks, highly detail-oriented
  • Excels in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be willing to work long and flexible hours to meet project deadlines
  • Great team player

EDUCATION: BA/BS degree and JD required.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • Salary Range: $130,000 – $160,000 annually.
  • Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
  • This position includes a competitive benefits package. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance benefits with up to 100% of premiums covered by the company, company sponsored disability coverage, company sponsored life insurance coverage, eligibility to participate in a 401(k) plan, eligibility to participate in SunShare’s stock option plan, and a generous paid time off policy.

Representative Salary:

The representative salary of a Community Solar Representative will vary depending on the Consultant’s willingness to go after sales. The individual’s drive and “go-getter” attitude will impact commission bonuses. Average commission translates to $25-$30 / hour, with potential of $100,000 per year including commissions and bonuses.
