MISSION OF ROLE: 
The Development Associate will play a critical role in building up and executing on a pipeline of new solar projects. While reporting to the Market Director, this role will be directly involved in all aspects of development including identifying project opportunities, securing land positions, engaging with community and project stakeholders, presenting at public meetings, and obtaining key utility capacity and interconnection agreements. This position will have ownership of specific projects and market areas and will have the chance to contribute to market strategy. Key responsibilities include:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviewing policy & regulatory documents to understand what sites will be viable for project development
  • Working with our in-house GIS Team, and internal mapping tools, to identify potential project locations
  • Completing land campaigns through mail, phone, and in person outreach, as well land agent management
  • Negotiating landowner lease and purchase agreements as well as agreements with project partners
  • Securing land use permits by building relationships with the local community, planners, & elected officials
  • Winning project development opportunities by submitting projects to Utility issued capacity solicitations
  • Solving the wide array of inevitable problems that will occur when developing a project

While you can dive deep into contracts, regulatory filings, and data sets, you prefer to be out in the field meeting with landowners, regulators, potential channel partners, and whomever else will be instrumental in helping you get more solar on to the grid.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary of $65,000-$95,000, performance bonuses with no cap and target of 20% of salary, and employee stock option plan. This position also includes a full benefit package of health/dental/vision insurance with up to 100% of premium covered, company sponsored disability coverage, company sponsored life insurance coverage, and eligibility to participate in a 401(k) plan.
