MISSION OF ROLE:
The Development Associate will be engaged in a fast-paced and innovative organization with a high performing team. They will be responsible for greenfield project development in select state markets in the fast-growing community solar space. The candidate must be an entrepreneurial-minded team player capable of working directly with landowners, permitting agencies, engineers, and designers to help develop SunShare’s project portfolio.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under the supervision and guidance of a Development Director, develop projects in designated markets up to the Notice to Proceed (NTP) milestone: Project Development Execution
● Support interconnection process, including preparing and submitting applications and tracking milestones, fees, and timelines
● Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and survey consultants to advance project diligence
● Assist in managing development budgets and tracking project spend\ Permitting & Stakeholder Engagement
● Support preparation and submission of land use permit applications
● Engage with local jurisdictions and community stakeholders as needed
● Assist in preparing materials for public hearings and regulatory approvals Internal Coordination & Reporting
● Maintain accurate project data in internal project management systems
● Track project milestones, risks, and timelines across development stages
● Prepare internal updates and development summaries for leadership
● Support transition of projects to construction and operations teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● 2+ years of solar project development experience
● 2+ years experience in the solar/renewable energy field or adjacent energy field
● Base knowledge of electricity markets, utility rate tariffs, interconnection agreements,
solar industry trends, and regulatory policies.
● Excellent sales and communications skills
● Passion for fighting climate change and building a renewable energy future.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary of $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience. Additionally, every full-time employee of SunShare receives stock options in the company, with the goal of allowing employees to participate in the increased value that they create. This position includes a competitive benefits package. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance benefits with up to 100% of premiums covered by the company, company sponsored disability coverage, company sponsored life insurance coverage, eligibility to participate in SunShare’s 401(k) plan with company match, paid time off and paid holidays.
